Public Draft JLUS Review Period (July 17 - August 17, 2015)

The Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC), in cooperation with Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC), local jurisdictions, agencies and organizations in the region, has prepared a Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) to address compatibility planning around NBVC, including NBVC Point Mugu, NBVC Port Hueneme, and NBVC San Nicolas Island. The goal of the JLUS is to reduce current and potential compatibility issues between NBVC and surrounding areas while accommodating new growth and economic development, sustaining economic vitality, protecting public health and safety, and sustaining the operational missions of NBVC and the Point Mugu Sea Range.

The NBVC Public Draft JLUS was released on July 17, 2015 for a 30-day public review and comment period ending on August 17, 2015.

In order to develop a plan that is responsive to local needs, input from the public is essential. At the August 4, 2015 workshop at the Camarillo Public Library and the August 5, 2015 workshop at the Oxnard Performing Arts Center, attendees will be provided an overview of the JLUS process and the key findings and recommendations contained in the Draft JLUS documents. Public comments on these draft documents will be accepted at the workshops, as well as up until the end of the comment period on August 17, 2015. Comments can be submitted via e-mail to Steve DeGeorge (VCTC Project Manager, This email address is being protected from spambots.
